STOP BEING A PUSSY!

If you’ve been in the gym for years… training hard and following a BB training program, you’re road to strength and speed might not be as easy as you think.  You’re going to have to relearn, much of what you believe you already know…  and that’s not easy.    But it can be done.  When I was in the Marines, everyone had to qualify on the rifle range.  I had never really shot a rifle before (a couple times) and I qualified easily as an expert.  But I remember a few guys in my platoon, who thought they were going to do really well because they had been hunters when they were civilians, only made sharpshooter or marksman.  Retroactive inhibition is the term.  And the years of poor technique are hard to unlearn. But, you’re already on the right track by being on this website and reading these articles.  The process has to start with your brains.  So, you’ve got to be open minded, some what humble, and willing to DO new stuff.  Notice I say DO… not try.  (I think Yoda said that too, didn’t he?)   So, get with some good lifters, get coaching, video your gym lifts for constructive criticism, buy the WSB videos, go to the EFS Force Training Seminars… Regardless of how you do it… the bottom line is that you must immediately start making improvements across the board.  You’re going to have to be smarter about your training, from the general paradigm to specific technique.  You’re going to have to learn a hell of a lot more about your body… how to control every muscle, joint angle, IAP, use of lifting gear, recovery, on and on… but one lesson you’ve got to learn is that there are lifters out there who have forgotten more about training than you know.  And the reason they’re stronger than you is that they’ve learned a helluva a lot more about training than you have!  Your current training has been good enough to take you this far, and only this far!  Don’t you want to go further?  Are you totaling Elite or 2500?… because if not, you better get off your pedistal and put your McFitness training ideas aside.  Yeah, yeah, I know, you say… “well, I’ve worked out for a long time and know my body and what works for me.”  All I can say is, “No you don’t.”    That’s why you’re the grasshopper…and EFS and WSB are the sensaas.  Don’t try to re-invent the wheel, and don’t be so arrogant as to think you can.  In order to learn and apply the WSB training program you’re going to have to put your Muscle&Fiction training methods aside… in fact, just plain forget’em.  Realize there are some smarter Mother ‘Fers out there than you, who you can learn from.  Buy the WSB videos and learn and apply everything on the EFS website.  Just follow the damn program as its outlined. Keep a PR chart, and keep learning!  Learn by application… my motto is “Learn to Train, Train to Learn”… so get in the gym and apply what you’ve learned… this is where the real learning takes place.  Your body must learn the program too.  You’re Central Nervous System, Periferral Nervous system, muscles, all of the connective tissues, will all have to learn new patterns of firing.  Just as when a person goes blind, their sense of smell and ability to hear will often increase… your body will

Don’t fall back into bad habits!  Don’t do too much accessory work!  Keep that bar path straight up!  Sit Back!  Push on the Belt!  And most of all, stick to the program!    Just keep hitting PR’s, keep getting faster, and improve your execution of all lifts.

No more training for a pump, pushing each set to failure with the “Weider” principles, and isolating each bodypart with all out intensity…  you now must focus on getting stronger and hitting PR’s on your max effort work, getting faster by increasing the speed of your dynamic effort work,  and increasing your GPP.  Curls, Pulldowns, Crossovers, Leg extensions, etc. are no longer the focus of your workout!  And do not try to do the ME and DE work followed by BB training for your bodyparts… it doesn’t work.

I don’t want to hear your excuses… only answers and solutions!  But, especially if your excuse goes, “Well, if I took steroids, I’d be this or I could do that.”  Whatever your self-perceived limitations… you gotta let’em go!

I ran into problems with this the WSB lifting program when I began to fall back into my BB paradigm.  Accessory Madness (must read this EFS article) will halt your progress from too much volume

How Following WSB and EFS has affected my strength and training:

A whole new world opened up to me which I didn’t know existed for my previous 15 years of “training”.  I thought I was pretty knowledgeable, won a couple BB shows (yeah, I admit it).  I’d even worked as a trainer at various places, but the fact is that I didn’t know shit about strength or speed.  When I first bought the WSB videos and JM Blakley’s bench video, I could’t believe it.  I’d been working out for 15 years and literally learned 100 new things in one day!   Assimilation of all of this new information  can seem like a big load at first… new program and new techniques and all. But give it time and it will flow.  Sometimes smoother than others.  I’ve been at this program, correctly, for 2 years… and screwed it up for a year… so a total of 3 years.  My progress this past year has been insane!  My squat is up #100 to #700, bench up #50 to #400, dead up #50 to #575.  My total has increased #300 over the past three years.  I used to race motorcycles and had a love affair with fast corners… now I have a love affair with hitting PR’s.  Board Presses, Lockouts, GM’s, Pulls, Box Squats… with or without chains… with or without bands, whatever height… I wanna break my PR!  I know the point of ME day is to strain maximally for 3-5 seconds… but I ain’t happy unless I get at least 5 more pounds on the bar!
